I’m Doug Craigmile, a photographer who’s lived in the Midwest for most of my life.

In 2027, I’m planning to hike the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). That’s roughly 2,650 miles, starting in Campo, California, and traveling north through Oregon and Washington, all the way to Canada.

For the record, I’ll be 56 years old when this next chapter begins.

As a photographer first and foremost, I wanted a place dedicated to the photographs I capture, the people I meet, and the stories that unfold on the trail.

That’s why I created Miles & Light.

Come along with me as I begin this next chapter of my life. I have no intention of stopping after this Pacific Crest Trail adventure.

Even if I don’t complete this hike, I plan to continue documenting my travels, exploring hiking trails, visiting national and state parks, all while sharing the stories that unfold along the way.

Whether you come along for just a chapter or for the rest of the journey, I appreciate you being here.

I’ll be sharing photographs, stories from the trail, and occasional updates about the preparation and gear that go into and adventure like this.
